Emily Rauscher Has Been Selected As An ASA Policy Outreach Program Fellow

Emily RauscherCongratulations to Emily Rauscher on being selected as an American Sociological Association Policy Outreach Program Fellow. A recent alumni, Shanelle Haile, has also been selected as a fellow.

The ASA Policy Outreach Program (POP) Fellowship aims to enhance connections between ASA and legislative offices, think tanks, and policymakers influencing public policy and opinion. Sociologists conduct extensive research and are highly knowledgeable about key issues, including policy and legislation, climate change, immigration, economic inequality, reproductive rights, and more. Yet a disconnect remains between the sociologists doing this work and the policymakers whose work often builds on this knowledge. A closer relationship between these entities could potentially allow sociologists to be more familiar with opportunities in the policy world (employment, funding, residencies) and enable policymakers to have early exposure to and information about research relevant to their priorities.
