Alicia González (she/her) is first-year Ph.D. student in the Department of Sociology at Brown University. Her research interests center on how community institutions and organizations shape neighborhood context and foster innovative responses to inequality. She is particularly interested in how partnerships among schools, human service organizations, and other neighborhood institutions affect local conditions and outcomes for children and families. Before beginning her doctoral studies, Alicia was a research assistant in the Family and Financial Wellbeing Division at the Urban Institute where she contributed to studies of early childhood and education policy. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Cornell University and was a Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellow. Alicia’s senior thesis research investigated the role of social networks in the diffusion of innovative audience engagement practices among museums in New York City.
