        Biography
I am interested in how African Americans and the Puerto Rican diaspora use hope to inspire and develop emancipatory social movements. Specifically, I build on Du Bois's theory of double consciousness to understand how "second sight,"--the ability of people who are racialized to see both their exclusion from power and, simultaneously, their humanity and contributions to the world--influences imagination to restructure the world in a more equitable way.
