Seungyeon Jung is a doctoral student in Sociology at Brown University, affiliated with the Population Studies and Training Center (PSTC). Her research examines how social environments shape educational opportunities. She is particularly interested in how neighborhood contexts and schools interact to influence family choices and contribute to the reproduction of inequality. Using quantitative methods, she analyzes how systems that appear open and accessible can nonetheless generate unequal outcomes across groups. In addition, she investigates how targeted school investments can mitigate these inequalities and improve children’s life chances.
