Biography

Ester Fanelli is a PhD candidate in sociology at Brown University. Her areas of expertise include demography, gender and sexuality studies, cultural sociology, public policy, and research methods. Her dissertation combines topic modeling, qualitative and quantitative methods to explore how gender-based violence became recognized as a social problem in 21st century Italy. Her broader research agenda includes studies on fertility, feminism, and women's financial literacy.
