Biography

I completed a BA in sociology with statistics as a second major at the University of Connecticut this past spring. Though not typically combined or considered together at UConn, I chose those two majors with a clear idea of what they add up to – what they contribute to one another. I am interested in studying demography and policy analysis, focusing on using large-scale population data and statistical analytics to investigate the distinct needs of demographics and communities that lead to disparities in policy effectiveness. In my undergraduate studies, I explored these interests mostly through secondary research, literature review, and journalism. I contributed as the sole undergraduate researcher on two of the Department of Statistics’ Student Life and Enrollment projects under the Office of the Vice President for Student Life and Enrollment. Between majoring in sociology and having written investigative articles for Her Campus Media at UConn, I was allotted the task of verbalizing prospective students’ likelihoods to enroll at UConn and enrolled students’ likelihoods to fail courses based on socioeconomic and spatial factors. In my time at and after Brown, I hope to explore similar projects and research areas more directly.

Like in my education and career, I also enjoy writing and journaling in my free time. I consider myself an artistic person despite only holding any talent in graphic design/photojournalism forms, as I greatly appreciate art in all forms. I also love exploring new cities’ sights/venues, live music, and food, so I’m very excited for the year ahead in Providence coming from rural UConn and suburban Foxboro, Massachusetts.
